Product Description:

The Steinel HF 360-2 IP Presence Detector is an advanced high-frequency sensor designed for precise motion detection in indoor spaces like washrooms, stairwells, and hallways. It can detect movement through various materials such as glass and wood, covering an area of up to Ø 12 m. This makes it an excellent choice for spaces with architectural obstructions. The sensor’s sleek, concealed design ensures it fits seamlessly into commercial environments without disrupting the aesthetic.

This detector offers IP connectivity, enabling advanced integration with smart building systems for real-time remote monitoring, control, and configuration. With adjustable settings for constant-lighting control, twilight levels, and energy-saving modes, the HF 360-2 IP is an efficient solution for managing lighting and HVAC systems. The detector’s settings can be configured and adjusted easily via LAN or Bluetooth, providing flexibility for modern building automation needs.

IP has superior network layer hardware, software and data throughput (whether wired or wireless) with decades of tech industry development. All the benefits of a multi-vendor ecosystem persist. Protocols like MQTT and end to end encryption enable the IoT promise, zero-trust security, analytics and data-lakes.

IP device availability is growing strongly, albeit off a low base. The ability to mix topologies and bridge between traditional bus architecture like KNX and IP-based POE devices enables a risk mitigated future-proof solution. Being able to take advantage of the traditional richness of the ecosystem of products (BACNet, DALI, KNX), with a future architecture in place, means the speed of the transition is neutralised.

IP should not be viewed as either/or, rather as both/and.

A final consideration is that there are many more IT engineers than building services engineers which means skills will be more readily available in future.
